As an adjudicator, Joe has judged various media in competitive art shows and programs at both the intimate local and large regional levels. Shows and programs include artists of all ages and experience levels, from student artists to seasoned professionals. With a specific specialization in photography, he is a knowledgeable and capable judge and critic across various artistic mediums, including painting, illustration, design, film and animation.
Joe is also a recurring adjudicator for the National Scholastic Arts & Writing Awards, working in multiple regions. Over the years many works of student art that have come from his judging panels have gone on to win top awards at the national level. Student artists are our next generation, adjudicating them is both an honor and a responsibility.
Joe's philosophy is that while art is indeed subjective, the key to adjudication is to cultivate a respected, defensible opinion through continuous learning, study, and education. It is something to not take lightly.
